Vintage "BR-M" Pedestal Cake Stand

A vintage pedestal cake stand is a classic for anyone who loves and collects European hotel silver. This cake stand has "BR-M" stamped on the top plate from British Rail Midland Region, circa 1950's. It was one of the largest railway companies in Britain in the early 1900's. Imagine this piece serving passengers in the dining cars en route northward to Scotland. We leave our cake stands out on the kitchen counter where deposited fresh fruit from the market becomes an instant still life or centerpiece for the kitchen table. Of course, it's the perfect piece for serving a tart, cake or cookies. Adds interest and height to any buffet.

The vintage offerings in our collection are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London for us by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
